Why did I write this book, Mental Illnesses with their different Facets?
You all know my blog and I stopped posting there when I had an accident and a few months later my wife got a virus infection during her Indian visit and from there till today very sick. Friends were always requesting to write further, but mentally I was not able to find the peace and concentration to write. In 2018 I started writing once again and wrote two books. Nutrition and Anti-Aging and Grapefruit, Boon, or Curse? Sure, my counselling work is going continuously, but in a limited manner.
Then came corona infection. My wife was in India and the international airports are closed. After eight and a half months of very hard time with the help of the German Consulate, Lufthansa, and my relatives we brought her back to Germany. During the corona years I was involved in the work of a non-profit social psychology centre who helped many people who could not manage their life with depression and other problems during this time. I went there every day and talked with people to motivate them. The number of depressions increased drastically and many of them need not come out of their house. The therapist must go to them to talk with them. Many did not even open their door to allow the therapist to come inside.
In May my friend R. Murugesan, a pioneer in Indian printing industries asked me why can’t I write a book about psychological illnesses in Tamil as many become depressed and when they go to the doctor, they do not understand the treatment and the quick explanation of the doctor. But all complain the bill is always high. I said yes and was thinking about two weeks how to do this. He wanted me to write a maximum of DIN A5, half size, and 600 pages in English at first and then to translate it in Tamil. I started to write in the beginning of June, day, and night. At the middle of July 2022, it was 600 pages and few chapters must be written yet. Just as I was looking at the page number, suddenly I shouted, oh my God, it is DIN A4 size in Microsoft Word and this means I have already written 1200 half pages. Suddenly I had to stop my ideas and tried to finish it quickly. At the end it is 1200 pages and I decided to make it in 6 volumes. By July end 2022 it was over. I sent the manuscript to S. Vanmathi, a psychologist, to the manuscript reading. As a busy person she took time till Christmas and gave me very useful tips particularly the structure of the chapters.
I separated it into 6 volumes. My sister, Professor. T. Syamala Devi and my brother-in-law A. Thangamai went through the manuscript to see whether it could be understandable for the man of the street. This book is written for awareness of mental illnesses. At the same time, it is useful to students or to the people who want to know deeply about this subject as at the end of every chapter around or more that 100 literature sources are cited. It is a scientific book, but easily understandable to everyone, as it is not written to doctors and psychologists. This is the aim of these books.
Mr. R. Murugesan’s request was to write this book in Tamil and so I will translate this book in Tamil in the coming weeks. Since Amazon has in Tamil only eBooks, no printed book option, I plan to translate and publish as one book.
I thank Mr. Olaf Doschke, IT Expert very much for his help to finalize the text and the cover for the strict quality control of amazon.
This will also be done for the German version as my German friends want to read them too. This is the birth story of these books. Read, benefit and comment…GIST. REST OF THE CONTENT.
